ICYMI: Rev. Horace Sheffield III Endorses Abdul El-Sayed for U.S. Senate
DETROIT, MI – On Saturday, November 8, U.S Senate candidate Dr. Abdul El-Sayed received the endorsement of Detroit political powerhouse and community advocate Rev. Horace Sheffield III. Rev. Sheffield announced his endorsement live on his weekly show “Wake-Up Call”, with Abdul as the guest.
Following his on air endorsement, Rev. Sheffield provided the following statement: “In an era unlike anything we have ever seen in terms of the massive and intentional social and economic impact upon families, farmers, municipalities, and citizens, we can ill afford to have anyone other that Abdul El-Sayed in the US Senate to protect us, and who will not only fight for us but will also win for us”.
Rev. Sheffield, proud father of Detroit Mayor-elect Mary Sheffield, serves as Pastor of Detroit’s New Destiny Christian Fellowship and CEO of the Detroit Association of Black Organizations (DABO), leading efforts to empower and uplift local communities. He also holds key leadership roles with the Michigan Chapter of the National Action Network, the Detroit Ecumenical Ministers Alliance, and several national civil rights organizations.
The Reverend’s endorsement came just hours before Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (MI-12) publicly announced her support for Abdul at a packed healthcare town hall, uniting two of Detroit’s most influential voices in public service. Abdul continues to build a deep bench of support in Wayne County, having already earned endorsements from Wayne County Executive Warren Evans, Wayne County Treasurer Eric Sabree, Detroit Police Commissioner Ricardo Moore, three Wayne County commissioners, and three State Representatives who represent parts of the county.
“I’m deeply honored to have Rev. Sheffield’s support. His lifelong commitment to justice, faith, and service embodies the very best of Detroit,” said Abdul. “We’re building a coalition that believes politics should be about people, and together we’ll fight to deliver dignity, opportunity, and equity for every Michigander.”
