Abdul El-Sayed Earns Key Endorsements from Michigan State Representatives Myers Phillips, Hope, and Neeley

DETROIT, MI – Today, U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed announced the endorsements of three key Michigan State Representatives: Tonya Myers Phillips (District 7, Detroit), Kara Hope (District 74, Lansing and Delhi Township) and Cynthia Neeley (District 70, Flint). Their support brings Abdul’s total Statehouse endorsements to eight, further solidifying the statewide momentum around the campaign.

Each of the three leaders shared their enthusiastic support this morning:

“Dr. El Sayed is the prescription for change we need when so many Michiganders are struggling,” said Rep. Myers Phillips. “Dr. El Sayed is focused on making basic needs like housing and utilities more affordable. His expertise as a doctor and health policy expert are what we urgently need to lead us out of the healthcare crisis. Healthcare should be a human right, and he has the vision and expertise to get people the access to medical care we need and deserve.”

“I’m pleased to endorse Abdul El-Sayed for U.S. Senate,” said Rep. Hope. “He is a lifelong public servant who puts people at the center of his work. And he knows that the status quo doesn’t serve most Michiganders. I look forward to his bold leadership.”

“I am proud to endorse Abdul El-Sayed,” said Rep. Neeley. “My endorsement is based on his remarkable potential and proven impact within our community, as well as his commitment to prioritizing everyday working people over billionaire interests. It means a great deal to me that he understands how difficult it can be just to get by. Abdul has consistently shown that hardworking citizens matter most, not billionaires. I am confident that Abdul El-Sayed will work tirelessly to create a government that serves us all.”

This surge in Statehouse support builds on endorsements from four members of U.S. Congress and more than three dozen local elected officials from every corner of the state. Leaders at every level of government are stepping up to back Abdul’s people-powered movement to get money out of politics, money in Michigander’s pockets, and Medicare for All.

“I’m honored to have earned the support of three legislators who understand what it means to fight for the people,” said Abdul. “Represenatives Myers Phillips, Hope, and Neeley organize with courage and lead with their values. Their support sends a clear message about the kind of Michigan we’re fighting for: one where healthcare is a human right, corporate power is checked, and working people come first. I am grateful for their confidence in our campaign and for their shared belief that every Michigander deserves to live with dignity.”
