ICYMI: Abdul El-Sayed Appeals to Republicans and America First Voters on Fox News
MICHIGAN – Today, Abdul El-Sayed joined Fox’s America’s Newsroom with Bill Hemmer to lay out his antiwar agenda and appeal to voters on the other side of the aisle. Abdul has spent the last year going everywhere and speaking to everyone, now including Fox News viewers on their own screens. Among Republicans and Republican-leaning independents, 56% say they trust Fox News as a source of news, according to Pew Research. Part of the campaign’s approach is to reach voters where they are and bring disaffected Michiganders back into the fold, no matter how uncomfortable it may get.
Abdul made his case for guaranteeing healthcare to every American and holding corporations accountable because life doesn’t have to be so hard if government works for working people again. He shared his anti-war stance in reaction to the war in Iran launched by Trump and argued that his positions are the true “America First” policies. Folks across the state, no matter their political affiliation, agree that our tax dollars should be spent here at home on schools, healthcare, and our children’s futures. Abdul gave Fox News viewers a taste of what this campaign is about:
“Bill, I’ll tell you. I don’t believe in left and right. I believe in the people who are locked out and the people who are doing the locking out,” Abdul said on America’s Newsroom. “I’ll always be on the side of the people who are locked out. They deserve a politics that’s not corrupted by corporations, a politics where we put money back in your pocket and we finally guarantee health care through Medicare for all. That’s not a left idea. That is an idea for people against the corporations who have dominated our government for very far too long.”
