Eastern Upper Peninsula Indivisible Chapter Endorses Abdul El-Sayed

MICHIGAN – Today, Eastern Upper Peninsula Solidarity announced their endorsement of Abdul El-Sayed for U.S. Senate, making them the first Indivisible group to officially announce their support for a candidate in Michigan’s highly contested U.S. Senate primary.

Abdul has made Northern Michigan a clear priority. Over the course of his campaign, Abdul has held over a dozen events across the region, engaging with voters in both central city hubsand small rural communities. From well attended town halls and community meet and greets to more constituency specific roundtable discussions, Abdul’s presence has signaled a commitment to representing all Michiganders, not just those in close proximity. This “go everywhere, talk to everyone” approach is helping to galvanize new voters, strengthen grassroots networks and build a more inclusive political coalition. One where voters can come together on the issues that matter to them most: money out of politics, money back in peoples pockets and passing Medicare for All.

“I’m deeply honored to have the support of Eastern Upper Peninsula Solidarity,” said Abdul. “This is a region that has too often been overlooked by people in power, but that’s not how we build a government that actually works for everyone. I’ve spent time in communities across the UP because listening matters. Showing up matters. And what I’ve heard is clear: people want to be seen, heard and fought for. That’s the campaign we’re building together, one that doesn’t leave anyone behind.”

Eastern Upper Peninsula Solidarity joins a broad coalition backing Abdul’s campaign, including Senator Bernie Sanders, US Reps Rashida Tlaib, Pramila Jayapal, and Ro Khanna and Wayne County Executive Warren Evans; IATSE Local 26 and more than 120 other federal, state and local elected officials, community leaders, and advocacy groups.
