ICYMI: U.S. Senate Candidate Abdul El-Sayed, Hasan Piker & Rep. Summer Lee Host Massive Rallies at University of Michigan and Michigan State

MICHIGAN – Yesterday, U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Abdul El-Sayed hosted two massive campaign rallies at Michigan’s largest University campuses, Michigan State and the University of Michigan, bringing together over 1,200 energized students, community members and supporters from the greater Lansing and Ann Arbor areas and tens of thousands across streaming platforms.

Joined by Rep. Summer Lee (PA-12), and political commentator Hasan Piker, yesterday’s rallies showcased the powerful grassroots momentum behind Abdul’s candidacy. From overflowing venues, to widespread press coverage at both the state and national level, it’s clear that voters are paying attention and getting involved in Michigan’s competitive primary election. Abdul was also joined by Rep. Rashida Tlaib (MI-12), Ann Arbor Mayoral Candidate Yousef Rabhi, and student speakers from both universities.

Abdul remains deeply focused on building a politics for the people who’ve long felt locked out of our political system altogether. That means going everywhere and talking to everyone. Yesterday, Abdul began his day on Fox & Friends and took questions from a range of outlets including: The Michigan Daily, The State News, Michigan Advance, Impact 89FM, Bridge Michigan, The Detroit News, WKAR, The Midwesterner, MIRS, WLNS, Fox News, Politico, CBS News, Zeteo, Washington Free Beacon, The New York Times, CNN, Associated Press, The Bulwark, Free Press, Jewish Telegraphic Agency. And engaged with new media including: Head in the Office, The Jaam Pod, Political Integrity Project, Status Coup, Distill Social and more.

“So many people want to tell us we can’t have nice things, or we can’t bring young people together. But yesterday we brought over 1,200 students together to say: we won’t back down,” said Abdul. “This campaign is about building a politics that finally works for all of us. It’s about bringing people together under a broader tent to fight for the things we all need and deserve: getting money out of politics, putting money back in people’s pockets and guaranteeing healthcare through Medicare for All. I’m so grateful for the energy and support of young people across this state who are powering our movement and the rest of this campaign will be about continuing that energy until election day.”
