Jewish Voice for Peace Action Endorses Dr. Abdul El-Sayed for U.S. Senate
MICHIGAN – Today, Jewish Voice for Peace Action (JVPA) endorsed Dr. Abdul El-Sayed for Michigan’s open Senate seat, marking the group’s first ever endorsement in a U.S. Senate race. With over 750,000 members and supporters, JVP Action is the largest progressive Jewish pro-Palestinian advocacy group worldwide, working towards freedom for the Palestinian people in opposition to Israeli occupation, apartheid and genocide in Gaza and the West Bank. JVP Action has been a prominent group in communities and campuses nationwide in protesting U.S. ties to the Israeli genocide in Gaza.
“JVP Action is incredibly proud that our first ever Senate endorsement will be for Dr. Abdul El-Sayed. Abdul has been a stalwart and unapologetic defender of Palestinian rights and freedom, and his campaign has demonstrated a moral consistency that centers justice and equality for all people. This campaign is an historic opportunity to bring a leader into office who will fight for our communities here at home, and to reimagine a US foreign policy that supports freedom and justice, not genocide and apartheid” said Beth Miller, Political Director of JVP Action.
Abdul’s clear moral stance has resonated with voters: we shouldn’t send money abroad for bombs, when we can use it at home to build schools, roads, and hospitals. Abdul’s choice to lead with his values has earned Abdul endorsements from several other multi-cultural organizations seeking to return to a more humane foreign policy, including A New Policy PAC, Arab American Democrats, Arab Americans for Progress, Hindus for Human Rights Action, Emgage Action, and PALPAC.
“Jewish Voice for Peace Action continues to be one of the most critical voices in the fight for a just foreign policy that values every human life equally,” said Abdul. “At a time when too many have tried to pit communities against one another, JVP Action has shown that standing against antisemitism and standing up for the lives and dignity of Palestinians are rooted in the same commitment to our shared humanity. I’m deeply humbled and energized by their support and the movement they’ve built.”
