BREAKING: Haley Stevens Breaks with House Dems To Send Money to Israel
Stevens votes yet again to serve a country committing genocide abroad instead of serving her constituents at home
MICHIGAN – Today, in a historic vote, Haley Stevens voted No on an amendment that would have blocked unconditional military aid to Israel. With the majority of House Democrats and Democratic voters supporting the amendment, the vote put Stevens firmly on the side of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), House Republicans, and President Donald Trump.
AIPAC’s Super PAC “United Democracy Project” is the principal financial backer of Haley Stevens’ Senate candidacy, having already spent over $30 million on TV ads supporting her. UDP is spending record levels in Michigan to buy this seat for Stevens so she can continue to take votes exactly like this.
As recent polls, including a new poll today from Data for Progress, find El-Sayed leading Stevens, it is clear that Stevens sees continued outside spending from the pro-Israel lobby as her only viable path to the Senate. The new Data for Progress poll found that 86% of Michigan primary voters are less inclined to vote for a candidate who supports continued funding to Israel.
“Today, Congresswoman Stevens had a choice: stand with the majority of Democrats who oppose unconditional military aid to Israel, or stand with the special interests funding her campaign,” said Dr. Abdul El-Sayed. “She chose to side with AIPAC and Republicans to continue to fund a war machine that has taken the loved ones of many Michigan families. She made her choice. I’ll make mine. As Michigan’s next Senator, I want to keep our hard-earned tax dollars here in Michigan to invest in Michigan healthcare and Michigan infrastructure rather than continuing to send bombs to a foreign government.”
Congresswoman Stevens has previously voted to give Israel tens of billions of dollars in military aid and weapons sales while the continue an ongoing genocide in Gaza and expansion into Southern Lebanon. Stevens also voted to sanction the ICC for issuing an arrest warrant for Prime Minister Netanyahu for Israel’s war crimes and crimes against humanity. The congresswoman also voted for an AIPAC-lobbied bill designed to pressure colleges into censoring constitutionally protected criticism of Israel – no wonder the country comes to her in her dreams.
Stevens has also taken two privately funded trips to Israel sponsored by the American Israel Education Foundation (AIEF), which is known to be the charitable arm of AIPAC. This includes one in 2019 with her mother that cost $21,000, and another in 2023 with Stevens’ cousin that totaled $30,000.
