Dr. Abdul El-Sayed Brings in Massive $2.3 Million Haul In First 48 Hours Following Nomination

Energy is in Michigan: Unprecedented haul exceeds combined raise from leading Democratic Senate Nominees

MICHIGAN –  Dr. Abdul El-Sayed’s campaign for U.S. Senate has hit the ground running in the hours after securing the Democratic nomination. In the past 48 hours since the race was called, Abdul has raised over $2.3 million, heading into the general election with $4.5 million – fundraised directly from real Michiganders and supporters across the country, not corporations and special interests (looking at you, Mike Rogers).

Abdul’s momentum towards the primary showed a massive pull of grassroots support, with an average donation of $50, and that has only continued after securing the nomination. Notably, Abdul raised more than other strong senate candidates Jon Ossoff, Roy Cooper, and Sherrod Brown combined in the 48 hours after securing the nomination. Abdul’s campaign has received donations from over 43,000 Americans in the last 48 hours. 71% of those gave to the campaign for the first time after the primary, signalling a clear consolidation of Democratic support for Abdul and enabling him to secure the number one spot on ActBlue.

While Abdul appeals to Michiganders’ interests, Mike Rogers is gleefully colluding with corporate interests and dark money to back his campaign instead of paying attention to peoples’ needs. Over this cycle, Mike Rogers has taken money from defense contractors, insurance companies and investment firms, choosing to continue prop up his candidacy with corporate power.

“The energy behind a candidate who isn’t afraid to tell us what we need and deserve from our government is undeniable,” said campaign manager Alia Kapasi. “We’ve built this campaign on real people and their needs, while Mike Rogers has built his corporate backed campaign from his home in Florida. It’s clear which candidate is Michigan first, and voters are already taking notice.”
