ICYMI: Reproductive Freedom for All Endorses Dr. Abdul El-Sayed for U.S. Senate
Endorsement adds to growing coalition of reproductive rights organizations backing Abdul
MICHIGAN – Reproductive Freedom for All announced its endorsement of Dr. Abdul El-Sayed for U.S. Senate, adding another major reproductive rights organization to the growing coalition backing his campaign. A national leader in the fight to protect and expand access to abortion and birth control, Reproductive Freedom for All has more than 4.5 million members nationwide, including more than 150,000 in Michigan.
Reproductive Freedom for All joins Planned Parenthood Action Fund, All* In Action Fund, and Ob-GynPAC in backing Abdul, adding to the growing support for his campaign and underscoring the stark contrast with his opponent, Mike Rogers, on an issue affecting millions of Michiganders.
“As a doctor who champions reproductive freedom, Abdul El-Sayed knows that health care decisions belong between patients and their doctors – not politicians,” said Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju. “Voters rejected Mike Rogers’ agenda to ban abortion nationwide last cycle, and our 157,000 members in Michigan are working to make sure his extreme record haunts him again this November. Electing El-Sayed is crucial to building a Senate majority that will protect access to reproductive care.”

For decades, Mike Rogers has been a consistent opponent of reproductive rights, backing restrictions at nearly every turn:
- Rogers celebrated the Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade.
- Rogers “supported a national abortion ban” and “consistently voted” for abortion bans during his time in Congress.
- Rogers twice “co-sponsored legislation to withdraw federal approval for the abortion-inducing medication Mifepristone.”
- Rogers co-sponsored four bills “to define human life as beginning at conception” which would jeopardize access to IVF and contraception, including IUDs and Plan B.
- Rogers has praised and is the beneficiary of $4.5 million in spending from SBA Pro-Life America, an extreme anti-abortion group which has “long required its endorsed candidates to support new federal abortion restrictions.”
This key endorsement adds to a growing coalition of advocacy organizations, labor unions, and elected officials supporting Abdul’s candidacy. His campaign has earned the backing of National Nurses United, UAW, End Citizens United, MoveOn, and Indivisible, as well as former Vice President Kamala D. Harris, Sen. Bernie Sanders, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. Haley Stevens, and State Senator Mallory McMorrow.
