Fox 2 Says Debate Will Happen On September 15th With Or Without Mike Rogers, Saying They Have “Microphone And Podium” Waiting

MICHIGAN – Today marks less than two weeks until Fox 2’s September 15th debate for US Senate. 

Despite having over 40 days to respond, Mike Rogers has still yet to commit, but Fox 2 is now saying they are full steam ahead to host a debate with or without Mike Rogers.

“August 5th is when the first invites went out to Dr. Abdul El-Sayed and Congressman Mike Rogers for a debate… Dr El-Sayed got back to us saying yes, he wants to do a debate Detroit-style. The debate commission, [Oakland University], and Fox 2 have all not heard back from the Rogers campaign.”

“The voters deserve real answers to real questions, not just spouting off talking points. So Congressman Rogers and your team, the invite still stands… let us know. You owe it to the voters you are trying to court… This is about the thousands of people on the other side of the camera who deserve to hear from you.”

“Both Fox 2 and the Abdul for Senate campaign are full steam ahead with the debate on September 15th,” said campaign spokesperson Cole Wozniak. “But apparently Mike Rogers’ handlers think it is better to take the embarrassment of Abdul debating an empty podium rather than have his full record of MAGA extremism and corruption on full display for Michigan voters.

“Whether Rogers finds the courage to make it or if he decides he needs another month to prepare for the WOOD debate, Abdul will be on stage on Fox 2 making the case loud and clear why he’s the best candidate to bring down costs for Michiganders and protect the state from the chaos coming out of Washington.” 

This isn’t the first time Mike Rogers has ducked and dodged media outlets—he’s refused to comment to multiple outlets on Trump’s trade war with Canada including NBC News, ABC News, POLITICO, Michigan Advance, and Semafor.
