Tens of Thousands Still Without Power as Rogers Prepares to Leave Michigan for “Trumpapalooza” in Texas
As of this morning, Michigan had more power outages than any other state in the country
Mike Rogers set to speak alongside Trump at the RNC Midterm Convention in Dallas
MICHIGAN – Days after severe storms tore through Metro Detroit and other parts of the state, tens of thousands of Michiganders remain in the dark. As of early Sunday morning, Michigan had more power outages than any other state in the country.
As Michigan communities pick up the pieces, Mike Rogers is packing his bags. New reporting reveals the Republican nominee is preparing to leave Michigan for the Republican National Committee’s Midterm Convention in Dallas, where the President has promised “music” and “excitement” and “a rally like never before.”
At least 45 Republican lawmakers are skipping the convention as Trump’s popularity sinks to an all-time low, but Rubber-Stamp Rogers is slated to both attend and speak.
“Mike abandoned Michigan for Florida to cash out after leaving Congress. Now, with tens of thousands still without power, he’s getting ready to abandon Michigan again to party with Donald Trump in Texas,” said Abdul for Senate spokesperson Cole Wozniak. “With Mike Rogers, it’s always the same: Donald Trump first, corporate donors second, Michigan last.”
Many of the Michiganders still without power are DTE customers—a utility corporation that has faced years of criticism over reliability while generating billions in profits.
- DTE has raised rates over 50% higher than inflation and is demanding $474 million in rate hikes on top of the $242 million yearly increases that were approved this spring.
- Despite demanding hundreds of millions of dollars more from Michigan ratepayers and making more than a billion in profit, DTE continues to pay zero dollars in federal income taxes and doles out cash to corrupt politicians to keep the system broken—including Mike Rogers.
- Mike Rogers has received $64k from DTE, on top of over $10 million in contributions from oil and gas interests to his campaigns and political committees—while Abdul takes no corporate PAC money.
On Friday, Abdul joined local elected officials on Detroit’s east side to survey storm damage and go door to door checking on residents. Video from the visit can be found here.
