President Obama Joins Abdul El-Sayed For Packed Detroit Rally To Kick Off Final Stretch Of Campaign

President Obama: “Abdul is fighting for change, real change… Change that will get money out of politics and put money in your pocket. Change that will finish the job that we started with the Affordable Care Act, and guarantee quality affordable healthcare to every single American.”

MICHIGAN – Last night, in front of a crowd of nearly 5,000 Detroiters, President Barack Obama and Dr. Abdul El-Sayed took the stage to remind Michiganders what is at stake in this election.

Dr. Abdul El-Sayed:

“It’s not just about fighting Big Tech, it’s about fighting for that family that’s worried about the data center they’re trying to put in the middle of their community. It’s not just about fighting big banks, it’s about fighting for the UAW auto-workers who haven’t gotten a raise in years while GM just did the biggest stock buy back in automotive history. And Y’all, it’s not even just about fighting Donald Trump, it’s about fighting for the family on the West Side who can’t afford their groceries because of this stupid war in Iran. It’s not just about fighting the military industrial complex or AIPAC, it’s about fighting for the families sending their kids to Spain elementary school, that deserve our money to be spent on them rather than dropping bombs somewhere else…

“So who’s my opponent in this race? It’s not just Mike Rogers, it’s the system that created Mike Rogers. It’s the system that allows Big Tech and Big Oil and Big Pharma and Big Banks to buy politicians and rig the system against the rest of us.”

“As if it’s not bad enough to try to live in Trump’s America, he’s coming here to remind us about it. He’s going to be in Port Huron tomorrow. And he wants to remind you that Donald Trump is on the ballot. So Detroit, let me just tell you for him: Detroit, Mike Rogers and Trump want you to know Donald Trump is on the ballot. So please make sure to vote like Donald Trump is on the ballot. We don’t need that president to come and tell us. Because we already got our president.”

President Barack Obama:

“When you campaign in as many elections as I have, I can tell you when an election comes along that just feels a little bit different… And Michigan, that’s what I’m feeling right now. That’s what you get the chance to do in 10 days. After 10 years of chaos, and cruelty, and corruption… the likes of which this country has not seen in modern times, you get to say enough is enough. We’re voting for change right here in Michigan…

“Abdul is fighting for change, real change. Change that will bring an end to this war. Change that will get money out of politics and put money in your pocket. Change that will finish the job that we started with the Affordable Care Act, and guarantee quality affordable healthcare to every single American…

“Whenever a movement builds to challenge that broken system, the people who benefit from the status quo will say and do anything to stop that train from coming. They will use lies and they will use fear and they will use division. And they may even use your name, or your faith, to somehow suggest that you are dangerous and less than trustworthy and less patriotic and less American than they are. We have seen this movie before. I starred in it. I’ve got a long form birth certificate to prove it. This stuff didn’t work on me, not in Michigan. It’s not going to work on Abdul. Abdul is as Michigan as it gets.”

Today, Donald Trump—who just this morning referred to President Obama as “grossly incompetent”—is in Michigan campaigning for Mike Rogers. On November 3rd, Donald Trump, his illegal war in Iran, and his disastrous economic agenda is on the ballot.
