Wayne County Deputy Sheriff’s Association Endorses Dr. Abdul El-Sayed for U.S. Senate

MICHIGAN –  Today, the Wayne County Deputy Sheriff’s Association (WCDSA) announced their endorsement of Dr. Abdul El-Sayed for U.S. Senate. The WCDSA represents hundreds of deputy sheriffs in the county that provide court security, respond to emergencies, and manage community outreach programs for the department. They provide legal representation and professional services to deputy sheriffs in the county while also engaging in advocacy work and educational programs for the public, fostering trust between law enforcement and the broader Wayne County community. 

“During my time working at Wayne County, I worked hand in hand with law enforcement for safer, stronger communities. That experience helped me better understand the nuances of their work,” said Abdul. “I’m proud to have supported them in Wayne County toward a safer working environment for communities and law enforcement alike and I’m so grateful for their support now. I look forward to continuing to work alongside law enforcement, and community leaders to invest in broader community services, and an America that empowers working people.”

The WCDSA joins a formidable coalition of Wayne County organizations and elected officials supporting Abdul’s candidacy, including Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans and Deputy Executive Assad Turfe, Wayne County Commissioners Sam Baydoun, Martha G. Scott, Tim Killeen, and Allen R. Wilson, The Wayne County Democratic Black Caucus, and several other city and local leaders. Beyond Wayne County, Abdul has earned support from over 200 elected officials, advocacy groups, and labor unions, including Sen. Bernie Sanders, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the UAW, the Working Families Party, and more.
