Abdul El-Sayed has never taken a dime of DTE or any corporate PAC money
MICHIGAN – Today, the fallout continues over Haley Stevens’ disastrous DTE deceit at the final Michigan Democratic Senate Primary debate. When asked directly by the debate moderator if she took money from DTE, the private utility company responsible for devastating blackouts that recently led to the deaths of three children, Haley said no.
The only problem? FEC filings show that Haley has taken $47,500 from DTE over the years, including $5,000 this cycle — a fact the journalists and the internet quickly uncovered.
When confronted by a reporter about her lie after the debate, Haley didn’t have an excuse but an explanation: “Look, I’m trying to get to the United States Senate.”
DTE is only one of the countless corporate PACs and dark money organizations that have consistently backed Stevens throughout the years. This cycle, AIPAC, DTE and other corporate PACs and dark money groups have backed Stevens to the tune of over $60 million dollars in an effort to elect her to the Senate and beat Abdul El-Sayed, who has never taken a dime of DTE money and made eliminating the corrosive influence of big money in politics central to his campaign.
