Mike Rogers Campaign “Faith Advisor” Co-Hosting Anti-Muslim Rally With Convicted January 6th Rioter

Jake Lang—Who Served Four Years In Prison For January 6th Riots—Hosting Anti-Muslim Rally In Dearborn With Pastor Lorenzo Sewell

Lorenzo Sewell Is Senior Leadership for the Rogers Campaign’s Faith Coalition

MICHIGAN –  Tonight in Dearborn, convicted January 6th rioter and anti-Muslim activist Jake Lang is hosting a rally alongside Pastor Lorenzo Sewell.

The rally—dubbed the Christian Crusader March—is expected to turn out up to 50,000 people as part of Lang’s tour to prevent the “Islamification of America.”

Lorenzo Sewell has endorsed Mike Rogers and serves as “senior leadership” of the campaign’s committee advising engagement with faith communities. The committee is tasked with leading “grassroots outreach to faith communities, building important relationships, sharing Mike’s America First vision, and mobilizing people of faith across Michigan.”

This rally marks Lang’s fifth visit to Dearborn since November and comes after he tried to crash a Detroit canvass launch with Abdul before being clapped out to chants of “USA” by attendees. Lang is a MAGA extremist and anti-Muslim activist who served four years in prison for participating in the January 6th riots on the US Capitol before being pardoned by Donald Trump last year.

Lang has also called for “execution” of DC police officers who protected the Capitol, including telling an officer he should be “put down like a dead dog” and “hung” in front of the Capitol.

Questions for Mike Rogers campaign:

  • Is Mike Rogers or the campaign aware that his faith advisor Lorenzo Sewell is hosting the rally alongside a January 6th rioter? Will he ask Sewell to step down from the campaign?
  • Does Mike Rogers support the stated goal of the rally to prevent the “Islamification of America”?
  • Does Mike Rogers approve of Trump’s pardons of those convicted for the assault on the Capitol on January 6th?

“Michigan families deserve a Senator who will stand up to hate rather than enable it,” said El-Sayed campaign spokesperson Cole Wozniak. “Mike Rogers must immediately disavow this rally, his affiliation with Jake Lang and January 6th terrorists, and explain why his campaign’s faith advisor is rallying alongside out of state agitators against Michigan faith communities.”
