“Mike Rogers Is Among The Most Corrupt Candidates For Senate In Michigan History”
MICHIGAN – Today, candidate for US Senate Dr. Abdul El Sayed joined a press conference hosted by the Michigan Democratic Party alongside Michigan families and union workers to call out Mike Rogers’ record of rampant corruption and high costs that are ripping off Michigan families.

“Mike Rogers is among the most corrupt candidates for Senate in recent memory, and certainly in Michigan history. This is a guy who took more than $5 million from big corporations to run his campaigns while he was in Congress for 14 years. He was actively taking money while voting to do the bidding of those exact same corporations,” said Dr. Abdul El-Sayed. “The contrast in this race could not be more clear: a guy who’s taken contributions from the insurance industry, or a guy who wants to pass Medicare for All. A guy who did the bidding of the pharmaceutical industry, or an individual who became a doctor, rebuilt Detroit’s health department to take on the challenges that people were facing in the first place… This is Donald Trump’s Mike Rogers. Make no mistake about it. He is a corporate shill and a Donald Trump suckup. And in November, we’ll send him back to Florida where he belongs.”
“As Trump continues to ignore the affordability crisis, his reckless war in Iran keeps causing gas prices to skyrocket… Mike Rogers has stood by this war every step of the way, despite the cost to Michiganders at the pump,” said State Senator Stephanie Chang. “Now Mike Rogers is running for the U.S. Senate, and Big Oil is doubling down on their investment. Rogers’ campaigns and PACs have taken more than $10 million dollars from oil and gas interests. Vote after vote, he protected his donors’ profits over Michiganders’ pocketbooks.”
“Nurses have a message for Mike. We are sick of dark money groups attempting to tip the scales in favor of candidates. Michigan deserves better. Our patients deserve better. Abdul is focused on what really matters to the people of Michigan,” said Aaron McCormick, President of Michigan Nurses Association. “He will work to reverse the health care cuts while pushing for Medicare for all. He’ll fight for everyone to have safe housing and a good union job. He stands for immigrant families and will protect our communities. Union nurses trust Abdul, and we will do everything in our power to get him to the Senate.”
“Here’s the choice in this race. We have Mike Rogers—a man who answers to Trump, to billionaires, and to whoever cuts him the biggest check—or Abdul El-Sayed, who will fight to root out corruption in D.C. and will always put our needs first,” said Detroit City Councilmember Denzel McCampbell. “Mike Roger is someone who pocketed money from the pharmaceutical industry that continues to make costs for lifestyle and medicine astronomically high, and we have Abdul here who literally wrote the book on Medicare For All… I urge my fellow neighbors in the city and throughout the state to make the right choice and elect Abdul to the U.S. Senate.”
