MICHIGAN – As Trump’s illegal war in Iran rages on, the price of diesel hit an all-time high today in the state of Michigan, reaching a staggering $6.34 a gallon.

Even as skyrocketing costs squeeze Michigan farmers and truck drivers, Mike Rogers has continued to double down on his support for Trump’s reckless war of choice, which he calls “a win-win-win.”

  • Mark Mosher, who drives trucks that require diesel, said the cost of fuel is affecting how much it costs to travel and do business.
  • “I’m hoping the prices go down,” Mosher said. “We’ve got to do something to get the prices down. It’s going to hurt a lot of people and it already is. It’s serious.”
  • Mallory Oberholtzer, a dispatcher with [Fox Transport Services], said the increase in fuel costs has made it more difficult for those out on the road. She said the pressure is especially tough on smaller, owner-operated trucking businesses.

Michigan Farm News: Report: Farmers spent $1.4B more on fuel this planting season

  • Farmers across the United States spent $1.4 billion more on diesel fuel during the 2026 planting season compared to the year before, according to a U.S. Congressional Joint Economic Committee report.
  • Michigan producers paid an additional $33.6 million for diesel fuel during the 2026 planting season, marking a 73.3% increase compared to 2025.
  • For Michigan, the report showed an average increase of $1,850 to fill up a typical farm fuel tank, along with $247 more to fill up a typical grain truck, and a $301 increase for filling a typical tractor. Each of those figures were higher in Michigan compared to the national averages.

  • Shortly after the United States launched strikes against Iran in late February, President Donald Trump acknowledged gasoline and oil prices would go “up a little bit” for “a little while.” Now, more than six months later, both are still much higher than they were before the attacks.
  • And diesel — the fuel America relies on to truck goods everywhere — just hit a new, all-time national record on Monday, Sept. 14, at $6.23 a gallon and could go even higher.
