Leaders We Deserve Endorses Abdul El-Sayed for US Senate
Leaders We Deserve joins a growing coalition of elected officials, advocacy groups, and labor unions supporting Abdul
MICHIGAN – Today, Leaders We Deserve announced its endorsement of Dr. Abdul El-Sayed for US Senate, adding another national organization to the broad coalition backing his campaign. Founded to support a new generation of voices in public service, Leaders We Deserve backs progressive candidates across the country who are willing to challenge the status quo and advance a bold vision for the future.
“Mike Rogers has spent the last two decades selling out Michiganders, sitting on tech company boards and amassing a multi-million dollar personal fortune,” said David Hogg, President and Co-Founder of Leaders We Deserve. “While Rogers was off in Florida enjoying his yachts, Michiganders were struggling to put food on the table, afford healthcare, or fill up their gas tanks. Do we want to keep electing the status-quo, MAGA puppets that have created these conditions? Or do we want public health experts like Abdul who reject corporate PAC money, back Medicare for All, and will put money back in working families’ pockets? Abdul is showing us that progressive fighters can win, even in purple states.”
“Leaders We Deserve is building a new generation of leadership that refuses to settle for the status quo, and I’m proud to have them in this fight,” said Abdul. “Young people have spent their entire lives being told that unaffordable healthcare, mass shootings, and a worsening climate crisis are simply the way things have to be. We can and must do better. I’m proud to stand alongside young leaders who are ready to take these challenges head-on and build something better.”

The endorsement adds to a growing coalition of advocacy organizations, labor unions, and elected leaders supporting Abdul’s campaign. He has earned the backing of the Working Families Party, Reproductive Freedom for All, National Nurses United, UAW, End Citizens United, MoveOn, and Indivisible, alongside former Vice President Kamala Harris, Sen. Bernie Sanders, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. Haley Stevens, State Sen. Mallory McMorrow, and hundreds of other leaders and organizations across Michigan and the country.
