Abdul Calls On Mike Rogers To Condemn Death Threats Made During Ted Cruz’s Speech

MICHIGAN – In a press gaggle following tonight’s town hall in Detroit, Dr. Abdul El-Sayed responded to Mike Rogers’ Trump-A-Palooza speech where he didn’t mention the economy once: 

“You know what he didn’t mention? Gas. You know what else he didn’t mention? Groceries. You know what else he didn’t mention? Healthcare. You know what else he didn’t mention? The tariff war. You know what else he didn’t mention? The war in Iran. So clearly, Mike Rogers doesn’t want to talk about the policies that he has to answer for with Daddy Trump.”

“If Mike Rogers doesn’t want to have a conversation about groceries and gas and healthcare, good luck winning this election.”

Abdul also responded to the new reports that Mike Rogers voted against healthcare funding for 9/11 victims and first responders: 

“[Rogers] told a first responder who had part of his foot amputated that that’s a New York problem. This is somebody who—when he thinks it’s politically useful for him—wants to invoke the memory of 9/11, but also wants to deny the people who are the real heroes, who ran into the attacks to take care of others, the healthcare that they need afterwards. It’s senseless. It’s heartless, and […] now he wants to be a U.S. Senator. I just don’t know how he can look at himself in the mirror.”

Abdul also called on Mike Rogers to condemn the apparent death threat made towards Abdul during Ted Cruz’s speech tonight in Dallas: 

“What we just saw with Dr. Amy Acton in Ohio, those calls to violence have consequences. All of us should be committed to the idea that democracy ought to be the process by which we solve our disagreements peaceably. 

“I want to understand what Mike Rogers has to say about that. He’s out there in Dallas where they are calling on his opponent to be shot.” 

“I’m trying to get money out of politics, put money in your pocket, pass Medicare for all. I don’t know what they’re trying to do, but it doesn’t sound like it has anything to do with the issues that we all face. So I’d like our politics to be about the issues that everyday folk are facing every day.”
