Nearly 60% Of Voters Support Medicare For All, Abdul More Trusted On Cost Of Living Than Other Swing State Democratic Senate Candidates

New York Times: “Dr. El-Sayed Is Also Winning 8 Percent Of Voters Who Supported Mr. Trump In The 2024 Election, More Than Either Of The Other Two Democrats In The Survey”

MICHIGAN –  Today, a new New York Times / Siena poll highlights the immense momentum driving Dr. Abdul El-Sayed’s campaign – and the total lack of support for a Mike Rogers agenda. 

Among likely general election voters in Michigan, Abdul is leading with 49%, with Rogers at 44%.

  • Abdul is leading 79-3 among Detroit voters.
  • Abdul is winning 8% of voters who supported Donald Trump in the 2024 election.

Overwhelmingly, Michiganders expressed extreme discontent with Trump and Rogers’ policies on everything from the Iran War to the economy, with nearly two-thirds of voters disapproving of Donald Trump’s presidency altogether:

ON THE ISSUES

  • 55% of voters think Donald Trump’s policies have hurt the state of Michigan
  • 63% of voters disapprove of the way Donald Trump is handling his job as president
  • 66% of voters disapprove of the war in Iran, which Rogers called “a win-win-win.”
  • 68% of voters disapprove of Trump’s tariff war, which Rogers unreservedly supports. 
  • Economy ranked highest as the number one issue driving Michiganders’ votes this fall – and 65% of voters disapprove of Trump’s handling of the economy. 
  • 74% of voters disapprove of Trump’s handling of the cost of living.
  • 75% of voters disapprove of Trump’s handling of gas prices.
  • Nearly 60% of voters support Medicare for All, Abdul’s signature policy. 

The poll also found that Abdul is outperforming other Democratic candidates in swing states on the key issues and winning more Trump 2024 voters: 

“In Michigan, support for Dr. El-Sayed appears to be fueled by the popularity of his economic message and his vocal support for single-payer health care. 

“He is more trusted to handle the cost of living by nine points, the only Democrat who is more trusted on the issue across the three states.

“And despite a bitter primary, a whopping 95 percent of Democrats are now supporting his candidacy.

“Dr. El-Sayed is also winning 8 percent of voters who supported Mr. Trump in the 2024 election, more than either of the other two Democrats in the survey.”

The numbers could not be clearer. As Donald Trump’s stooge, Mike Rogers represents deeply unpopular positions. Michiganders reject the Trump-Rogers agenda and will send Rogers back to his home state of Florida this November.
