“Once A Self-Described ‘Hard-Right’ Conservative Who Voted For Donald Trump In 2024, Larson Now Considers The President A ‘Tyrant’ And Said He’s Likely To Cast A Ballot For Democrat Abdul El-Sayed”
MICHIGAN – A new report from CNN lays out how after making strides with the voting block in 2024, young men are losing faith in Donald Trump—and turning out to vote for Abdul El-Sayed.
Tailgating near the student union in a backwards cap, hoodie and Oakley sunglasses, Larson lamented the rising prices of everything around him — beer, tuition, the gas for his truck — and a president he said wasn’t focused enough on the challenges facing his generation.
The frustrations have transformed Larson’s politics. Once a self-described “hard-right” conservative who voted for Donald Trump in 2024, Larson now considers the president a “tyrant” and said he’s likely to cast a ballot for Democrat Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan’s closely watched Senate race.
“Seeing the economy in this state, it’s very hard to be a conservative,” said Larson, a 21-year-old criminal justice major, “and I wouldn’t call myself that anymore.”
Abdul El-Sayed has shown incredibly strong support among youth voters after Democrats underperformed in 2024, with MLive reporting that “In a tight Senate race, El-Sayed has the youth vote locked up.” Even Mike Rogers acknowledges the strength of Abdul’s campus organizing, saying: “Unfortunately, they are doing a good job on campuses.”
For young male voters, Abdul has shown a unique appeal and is well-positioned to win their votes. He’s hit the “podcast circuit and bench press” while sitting for interviews with Men’s Health, GQ, and Vic Mensa.
Abdul also received praise for knowing “puck” in his recent commentary on the state of the Detroit Red Wings in an article by the Octopus Thrower… while Mike Rogers was flamed online for “some ChatGPT response” that “parroted” the talking points of the billionaire owners.
