MICHIGAN – The following is a statement from the Abdul for Senate campaign following Donald Trump’s awkward rally with Mike Rogers in Port Huron:

“Donald Trump told Michigan ‘pretend I’m on the ballot’ — and Michigan will. Mike Rogers is running to be Trump’s rubber stamp, and has backed every single one of Trump’s massive price hikes,” said campaign spokesperson Cole Wozniak. “While they lie and resort to desperate, bad faith attacks, Abdul remains laser focused on his plans to bring down costs and stand up to the chaos and corruption in Washington. Michigan knows Trump is on the ballot on November 3rd—and they will vote like it by rejecting Trump’s rubber stamp Mike Rogers and sending Abdul to the Senate.”

Trump’s rally with Mike Rogers comes on the heels of Rogers’ TRAINWRECK of an interview on Meet the Press where he refused to deny that he was a MAGA Republican and pretended he was having technical difficulties when he was asked whether he would be a rubber stamp for Trump’s agenda.

On fearmongering tactics deployed by Trump, Rogers, and Republicans, President Obama yesterday remarked: “We have seen this movie before. I starred in it. I’ve got a long form birth certificate to prove it. This stuff didn’t work on me, not in Michigan. It’s not going to work on Abdul. Abdul is as Michigan as it gets.”

Tonight, Abdul will respond to Trump and Rogers at his Michigan First rally in Grand Rapids alongside Senator Bernie Sanders. Watch the rally here.
