Saline Indivisible Endorses Abdul El-Sayed for Michigan’s Open U.S. Senate Seat
MICHIGAN – Today, Saline Indivisibleannounced their endorsement of Abdul El-Sayed for U.S. Senate, making him the first and only candidate to officially have the support from not one, but two indivisible groups in Michigan’s highly contested U.S. Senate primary.
“We believe Abdul’s vision for the future best aligns with our group’s goals, which ultimately must include strengthening our democracy,” saidNaomi Ernest, co-lead of Saline Indivisible. “Abdul recognizes the urgency of our current political environment and understands the underlying issue: corporate money in politics. From the beginning, Abdul has proven himself to be a consistent champion of the people, fully committed to building an America that uplifts allAmericans rather than a wealthy few.”
This endorsement comes on the heels of Abdul’s first Indivisible chapter endorsement from Eastern Upper Peninsula Solidarity (EUP) and reflects his ability to connect with voters all across the state. This has been especially evident in communities like Saline where Abdul has engaged directly with residents on the issues that matter the most to them. Among those concerns is the rapid expansion of AI data center projects across Michigan, including a proposed development in Saline. Abdul was the first candidate in the race to release proposed policy around data centers, with an actionable terms of engagement framework that prioritizes community input, environmental protections, transparency, and corporate accountability.
“I’m incredibly grateful to have earned the endorsement of Saline Indivisible.” said Abdul. “Across Michigan, people are ready for a government that answers to them, not corporate donors. Whether it’s fighting back against unchecked corporate influence or standing up for communities facing potentially harmful developments, this campaign is about putting power back where it belongs: in the hands of the people.”
Saline Indivisible joins a rapidly growing coalition of endorsers backing Abdul’s campaign, including Senator Bernie Sanders, US Reps Rashida Tlaib, Pramila Jayapal, and Summer Lee and Wayne County Executive Warren Evans; IATSE Local 26 and more than 120 other federal, state and local elected officials, community leaders, and advocacy groups.
