ICYMI: Dr. Abdul El-Sayed Draws Impressive Crowds During Northern Michigan Campaign Stops, Earning Two Major Local Endorsements
MICHIGAN – This week, U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Abdul El-Sayed traveled to Traverse City and Manistee to continue his extensive statewide listening tour, spanning over 360 events across 90 cities. The local communities showed up in droves to show their support for Abdul’s candidacy, further showcasing the intense and rapidly growing excitement around his campaign.
The trip kicked off with a well attended town hall in Manistee County with nearly 200 attendees followed by a roundtable with local LGBTQ community leaders in Traverse City. The evening concluded with another meet and greet hosted by Chair of the Traverse City Democratic Party, Trenton Lee who endorsed Abdul back in November stating “I’m proud to endorse Abdul El-Sayed — a leader who will always put Michiganders first. His fight for Medicare for All isn’t about politics; it’s about ensuring every person in our state can get the care they need, no matter their income or ZIP code. Abdul has never backed down from standing up to corporate interests, and that’s the kind of courage and compassion Michigan deserves.”

The trip concluded with endorsements from Flat River Indivisible and Indivisible Courage Together, two local chapters of the nationwide advocacy group Indivisible. Abdul remains the only candidate to receive endorsements from any local chapter, with a total of four, including Saline Indivisible and Eastern Upper Peninsula Solidarity.
“Abdul understands that our economy cannot survive, that our people cannot survive ruled by oligarchs or billionaires, ” said Flat River Indivisible. “Michiganders work hard but corporate tax breaks take unfair advantage of the average family. We believe along with Abdul that it is our right to build wealth for ourselves. Dr. El-Sayed also advocates for guaranteed healthcare. Medical debt should not exist. We are all better workers and Americans when we do not have to choose between our health or our lifestyle. The rural community understands this as we look at losing access to local hospitals through the BBB. Finally, he champions getting money out of politics and refuses to take PAC money. He is not influenced and refuses to be swayed by large donors. He prioritizes the common man/woman/family. His leadership in this endeavor is the highlight of his campaign. His progressive stance is something to be admired and supported. Please stand with FRI and endorse Dr. Abdul El-Sayed for Michigan Senate.”
“Our Indivisible chapter covers the Counties of Otsego, Montmorency, and Crawford, rural counties experiencing increasing stress from rising costs for farmers and consumers, a lack of affordable housing and livable wages, and inaccessible healthcare,” said Indivisible Courage Together. “We worry about cuts to education and food benefits because we understand that a healthy, educated populace equals a thriving society. We believe that your stance on advocating for healthcare for all, affordable housing, quality education, clean air and water, and a sensible foreign policy best aligns with the constituents of our Counties and with Michigan overall.”
This latest Northern Michigan swing marks yet another strong showing of grassroots enthusiasm as Abdul’s campaign continues building momentum across Michigan. With supporters gathering in large numbers at each stop, Abdul’s campaign remains focused on uniting folks around a vision rooted in getting money out of politics, putting money back in people’s pockets and passing Medicare for All.
