Abdul El-Sayed Launches Billboards Across Metro Detroit
Campaigns in Contrast: Engaging Voters vs Flooding Their TVs with Attacks and Lies
MICHIGAN – Today, 15 digital billboards across Metro Detroit went live encouraging Michiganders to do something almost unheard of in politics: pick up the phone and call a candidate.
The billboards direct viewers to 1-844-ABDUL-4-U, a real phone number where callers can hear directly from Dr. Abdul El-Sayed about his plans to lower costs, take on special interests, and build a government that works for working people. The campaign’s retro-inspired hotline has already generated thousands of calls, offering voters a direct, unfiltered way to learn about Abdul’s vision in the final week before the August 4th Democratic primary.
The billboards also highlight the clear contrast in this race: one campaign talking directly with voters, the other flooding the airwaves with attacks funded by the corporations ripping off Michiganders.
“As tens of millions of dollars in dark money flood Michigan in an attempt to buy the state’s next U.S. Senate seat, we’re continuing to break the mold of traditional campaigning,” said spokesperson Roxie Richner. “All while refusing a single dime of corporate PAC money.”

- Healthcare
Thanks for calling, this is Abdul El-Sayed. In the richest, most powerful country in the world, no one should have to choose between getting the care they need or going into debt. I believe in expanding Medicare to cover every single American from cradle to grave while sustaining the option for workers to keep supplemental private insurance their unions or employers may provide. I literally wrote a book on how to do it, that’s Medicare for All. As a nation, Americans hold more than $225 billion in medical debt. I think it shouldn’t exist– which is why as director for Wayne County’s Department of Health, Human, and Veteran services I led the effort toI eliminate up to $700 million of it for 300,000 Michiganders.
- Economy
Thank you for calling. In the state that built the American Dream, it shouldn’t be this hard to get by. I believe Michigan’s economy should work for working people, not billionaires. I oppose corporate tax breaks, support unions, fair wages, and Medicare for all. I believe one good job should support a family. I want to rebuild American manufacturing through investment in innovation and targeted tariffs, which of course is why the UAW has supported me in this race, and I want aggressive antitrust enforcement and to hold Wall Street accountable.
- Housing
Hi there, thanks for calling, this is Abdul El-Sayed and I believe you deserve a home. Too many Americans are priced out of the most basic necessity of shelter. And working people can’t afford housing in the communities in which they work. I want to solve that. I believe we need a building boom. And to make that happen, we need to massively invest in building new housing in communities across the state, and to stand up against all of those unfair regulations that are making it way too hard to build affordable housing in America. I’ll stand up to the corporate profiteers who are on the wrong side of affordable housing – including corporations, hedge funds, speculators, and big tech. I’ll stand up to landlords through a renters bill of rights, to make sure that nobody is unfairly evicted are forcing too many Americans onto the streets. Go to AbdulforSenate.com to learn more.
- Foreign Policy
Hey there, thank you so much for calling, this is Abdul El-Sayed. In an era where our schools are crumbling and healthcare is unaffordable, we should be spending our taxpayer dollars here at home. I oppose direct foreign military funding and those unnecessary, ridiculous wars abroad that are raising our gas prices to $5 a gallon.
We should lead the world in protecting democracy, prosperity, and peace. We protect our security at home and abroad by standing with our democratic allies and engaging in a foreign policy that is centered on diplomacy, cooperation, and protecting human rights, not breaking them. When we act alongside our allies – as in supporting Ukraine against Russian invasion – we find ourselves on the right side of history and justice. It’s when we break the rules we worked so hard to set up – as in Vietnam or Iraq or Israel – that we make critical, deadly mistakes. To learn more go to AbdulforSenate.com.
- Bernie Sanders
Michigan is the state that led this country in developing a strong labor movement that stood up and protected workers all across this country. Michigan today has the opportunity to send Abdul to the United States Senate to send us a leader who is a new generation that will take on corporate interest, take on Super pacs, and come up with a radical idea that maybe the United States government, and our economy should work for all of us and not just the 1%. Please, send Abdul to Washington.
