NOT AN INTERNAL: Abdul El-Sayed Leads Democratic Primary by 10 Points
12 of the Last 14 Polls Have Shown Abdul El-Sayed as Clear Frontrunner
MICHIGAN – Today, a new independent poll from Tavern Research shows Dr. Abdul El-Sayed with a commanding 10 point lead in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate, the latest in a consistent string of public polling showing Abdul with the advantage in the race.
Fielded 7/26 – 7/27 (several days after Governor Whitmer’s endorsement), the survey found:
- Abdul El-Sayed: 46%
- Haley Stevens: 36%
- Mallory McMorrow: 4% (withdrawn from the race)
- Undecided: 14%
In a head-to-head matchup between Abdul and Stevens, the poll shows Abdul expanding his lead to 11 points:
- Abdul El-Sayed: 48%
- Haley Stevens: 37%
- Undecided: 15%
The survey also finds Abdul with a substantially stronger approval rating among Democratic voters, with a +40 net favorability rating, compared to +18 for Haley Stevens. This comes after AIPAC’s United Democracy Project has spent $18 million over 5 weeks disinforming voters on Abdul’s character.
The results come as voters continue to reject unprecedented levels of outside spending from billionaire-backed special interests and instead rally behind Abdul’s campaign to get money out of politics, put money in your pocket, pass Medicare for All.
