NEW EMERSON POLL: Abdul El-Sayed Holds 15-Point Lead in Democratic Primary, Leading Independents

Independents break for Abdul by a 27-point margin

MICHIGAN – A new independent poll from Emerson College Polling released today shows Dr. Abdul El-Sayed with a massive 15-point lead in Michigan’s Democratic primary for U.S. Senate.

Fielded 7/26 – 7/27, after Governor Whitmer’s endorsement, the survey found:

• Abdul El-Sayed: 54%
• Haley Stevens: 39%
• Undecided: 6%

It also found a 17-point drop since April in Gov. Whitmer’s approval rating. When undecided voters are asked which candidate they lean toward, Abdul’s advantage grows even larger:

• Abdul El-Sayed: 57%
• Haley Stevens: 41%

Among independents, Abdul holds a massive 27-point lead, proving that he is the strongest general election candidate:

• Abdul El-Sayed: 60%
• Haley Stevens: 33%

The survey comes as outside groups have outspent Abdul 12:1, pouring more than $60 million into Michigan’s Democratic Primary, including spending that has recently exceeded $5 million per day. Despite this, it’s clear that Abdul has both the enthusiasm of Democrat voters, and the ability to expand the Democratic base in order to win in November.
