WATCH: In More Perfect Union Video, Abdul Sells Swing Voters on His Vision for Michigan

MICHIGAN –  In a video released earlier this week by More Perfect Union, Dr. Abdul El-Sayed sat down with Michigan swing voters to try and sell them on his radical new ideas: money out of politics, money in people’s pockets, and Medicare for All. The result? It worked.

As national media has increasingly focused on niche issues to put pressure on Abdul’s electability argument, he’s remained laser-focused on what Michiganders care about most: getting food on the table, guaranteeing healthcare, and investing our tax dollars at home. Much to the surprise of the establishment, voters left feeling convinced that he has the capacity to deliver in the Senate and the vision to win in November. 

The conversations Abdul had in the video are indicative of a larger trend that’s been observed in polling throughout the primary – Abdul is the better choice for a general election. The last six general election matchups show Abdul beating Mike Rogers by 3.3 points, while Haley Stevens loses to Rogers by 0.5 points.

“I think the way that Abdul spoke about Medicare for All, as far as it being a plausible and a tangible goal, was pretty enlightening, and I plan to vote for Abdul.”

“I think that Abdul did change my mind about what I feel like I can expect from a politician who really believes what they say.”

“Him taking a stance on something, even if it’s strong and people consider it maybe too strong – I think taking a stance means something.”

“It’s an election, anybody could lose – Haley Stevens could lose. And I’d rather vote for somebody who I agree with on their policy points rather than somebody who I just think is against Trump. I’ve got my mail-in ballot at home. I’m going to go home and fill it out and mail it in for Abdul El-Sayed.”
