Representative Bonnie Watson Coleman Endorses Dr. Abdul El-Sayed for U.S. Senate

MICHIGAN –  Today, Representative Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12) announced her endorsement of Dr. Abdul El-Sayed for U.S. Senate. The first Black woman to represent New Jersey in Congress, Rep. Watson Coleman is a seasoned legislator who has decades of experience in public service. She is the co-founder of the Congressional Caucus on Black Women and Girls as well as an executive board member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. In Congress, she has introduced legislation to ban federal for-profit prisons and has co-sponsored the Medicare for All Act and the Ceasefire Now Resolution. She has represented New Jersey’s 12th district since 2015.

“In my 12 years in Congress, I’ve learned that the best leaders lead with their values,” said Rep. Watson Coleman. “That’s what Abdul does every single day; standing up to big corporations that nickel and dime us every day, working to make Medicare for All a reality and to abolish ICE, and fighting for working families. I’ve seen what can be accomplished when we have principled leaders who put in the work. That’s why I’m endorsing Dr. Abdul El-Sayed.”

Rep. Watson Coleman joins a long list of federal office holders backing Abdul. Abdul has received endorsements from Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Ma.), Sen.
