MICHIGAN – Mike Rogers has been busy this week. Just not talking to Michigan voters. While Abdul has been crisscrossing the state, meeting Michiganders in Kalamazoo, Traverse City, Detroit, and Grand Rapids, Rogers has had other priorities. 

As fuel costs set new records in Michigan, Rogers is chasing a record of his own: the most foreign policy about-faces in 48 hours.

He’ll probably change his mind again today, but here’s a closer look at Rogers’ week so far: 

MONDAY

  • FLIP FLOP on the Iran War. Mike found a grocery store—whether in Michigan or Florida remains unclear—to film an ad about rising costs. Funny how quickly a “win-win-win” became “end the war quickly” once record fuel prices became a political liability.
  • Boys trip to Dallas! Rogers can never stay in Michigan for too long. And how could he pass up the chance to fangirl over George W. Bush, the architect of his second favorite war? At the lavish Texas fundraiser, Rogers also rubbed shoulders with Harlan Crowe, a Republican megadonor known for bribing Supreme Court justices and his collection of Hitler and Nazi memorabilia. 

TUESDAY

  • FLIP FLOP on the Iran War… again? Rogers’ limp opposition to Trump couldn’t last longer than a day. In an appearance with Newsmax, Rogers walked back his words and maintained President Trump was doing a “wonderful job” in the Iran War. 
  • FOX News pit stop. Rogers, who seldom finds time to speak with reporters in Michigan, made time for Laura Ingraham on FOX News—only to face questions about why he skipped last week’s debate against Abdul hosted by Detroit’s own FOX 2.
  • Crash out over the polls. New polling shows Rogers underwater in the race. Instead of trying to win over Michiganders on the issues, Rogers lambasted the poll itself as “dishonest.” Though we think flip-flop-flipping on the war and lying about your record is what’s actually dishonest.

WEDNESDAY: 

  • Rogers’ plan would SPIKE DIESEL COSTS EVEN HIGHER: Rogers’ halfhearted proposal to lower diesel rates by banning diesel exports was dismissed by Trump’s Energy Secretary, who argued the plan would just drive costs higher.
