ICYMI: Abdul Hits the Road, Rogers Flip-Flop-Flips on Iran

Abdul campaigns in Kalamazoo, Traverse City, Detroit, Grand Rapids, as Rogers flails to change his record on the war in Iran.

MICHIGAN – Over the past 48 hours, Dr. Abdul El-Sayed has traveled across Michigan for public events in Kalamazoo, Traverse City, Detroit and Grand Rapids. 

Today, Abdul started the morning with a press conference in Detroit focused on rising fuel costs. Diesel prices hit a Michigan record high this week, surging past $6 a gallon statewide and reaching nearly $7 at some pumps. Gas prices climbed 61 cents this week alone, with the statewide average approaching $5 a gallon. 

Against that backdrop, Abdul was joined by more than 20 members of the press and debuted the Mike Rogers “I Did That Stickers” for the gas pumps. 

From there, Abdul joined former Vice President Kamala Harris and leaders in the birth equity space in Detroit for a roundtable focused on Black maternal health. Harris’ visit emphasized Democratic unity heading into November, and Abdul’s broad support within the Black community.

In the evening, Abdul was joined by over 1,400 supporters for a town hall in Grand Rapids where he took questions from Michiganders about the economic challenges facing Michigan families and criticized the failed policies of the Trump administration that have exacerbated them. 

The events come as Mike Rogers sticks to appearances on NewsMax and Fox News, seeking to distance himself from a war that he strongly supported just days ago. Earlier this year, Rogers argued the war “should have happened a long time ago” and dismissed Michiganders concerns around rising fuel costs, stating that “we got plenty of oil.” Mike Rogers referred to war with Iran as a “win-win-win” and claimed that Trump was “absolutely right” to start the conflict.  

Now as gas prices skyrocket, it’s clear that Mike Rogers will say and do anything to secure a “win-win-win” for himself.
